Tuesday (4/16/02) around eleven..
B.J., Helen, Mary, Richard , Sally, Emilia and I went to Cabassa’s for lunch.. as Malen said.. just something light!  We drove down through Coconut Grove on Ingraham Highway..fun.. and down Old Cutler Road (beautiful as ever) and past our house and pulled into 5505 85th St.

Malen and Jake celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.. and Maguisa (Tampa) and Maria & Ronnie (Big Pine Key) came to our celebration on Sunday, along with Malen and Jake.  Eddie and family were supposed to come but couldn’t.. so he joined us for lunch.  He looks wonderful.. and he and Mary had a great time reminiscing about “remember when we”.. as did all of us.

A visit with them is always a warm, special experience. They are truly good friends.  When we moved to 85th St. in Jan of 1960, the Cabassas ..who had moved from Ponce, Puerto Rico the previous year.. were our next door neighbors.  Jake Jr. was in high school as was Maria; Carmen and Maguisa in grammar school and Eddy .. three years old.

We feasted on a wonderful chicken dish, salad etc. topped off by Malen’s Flan which she knows I love.  Everyone in the family was invited.. they are just so hospitable.  We had hoped to stop in at Dorseys and Reardons for just a quick visit, but Mary, Frap and the kids had a plane to catch back to Houston and time flew by so we had to omit that.  We did peek in our backyard.. and the house looks wonderful.
